Facts »

  • About 30% of a family's energy budget is used to heat water.
  • A Solar hot water system can replace 50% to 80% of those energy costs.
  • Solar Energy is measured in kilowatt-hours. 1 kilowatt = 1000 watt, which means 1kilowatt-hour (kWh) = the amount of electricity required to burn a 100 watt light bulb for 10 hours.
  • A 1-kilowatt home solar system will prevent approximately 170 lbs. of coal from being burned, 300 lbs of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere and 105 gallons of water from being consumed each month!
  • Relying on a battery backup, a solar energy system can provide electricity 24x7, even on cloudy days and at night.
  • Solar panels come in various colors.
  • More solar energy falls on the earth in one hour than the entire population uses in one year.
  • Over the last 20 years the cost of solar energy systems has come down seven fold. As the demand for these systems rise and manufacturing volume increases, costs will decrease and the economic payback time will also decrease.
  • Monthly average residential consumption of electricity in the US in 2011 was 920 kilowatt hours. (Source: US DOE)
  • Albert Einstein won his Nobel Prize for his work on the photoelectric effect in 1921.
  • A world record was set in 1990 when a solar powered aircraft flew 2,523 miles across the USA, using no fuel.
  • Electric ovens consume the most amount of electricity, followed by microwaves and central air conditioning.
  • $83,000 - that's the amount that one Air Force base in Nevada saves per month after installing a solar energy array on site.
  • While the US has 3,900% more sunlight than Germany, the smaller European country has 6,000% more solar energy.

Ronald Faia CFO-

Ron was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in both Brooklyn and the beautiful Catskill mountains. During his time in the Catskills he became an avid nature lover and environmentalist. He was a student of Baruch College and a graduate of St. Johns University, and his specializations were in Economics and International Finance.

After pursuing successful entrepreneurial endeavors for over fifteen years, Ron realized his true calling was in real estate development. Being a constant advocate for renewable energy and the need to move away from the use of fossils fuels, his mission was to incorporate energy efficient design and products into all of his future projects. By doing this he has taught individuals not only about money-saving techniques, but also how to positively impact their surroundings.

Ron then teamed up with a crew of likeminded individuals to expand his innovative designs to incorporate solar, wind and geothermal energy. Ron is a new father of two and has decided to dedicate his life to being part of the solution to make the world a better place. It is vital for Ron to create a greener and healthier world for his two young children to grow up in. Renewable energy is not just a means to generate income but it is essential to the well being of our future generations.

Mark Robinson COO-

Born in Burlington Vermont, raised in upstate NY. Mark is an avid outdoorsman and fisherman.

While studying marketing and advertizing at Baruch College he worked for Hotelier Ian Schrager. His loyalty and dedication earned him a long term position with Schragers in house design and the development team. He stayed with Schrager as part of the team that renovated and opened The Morgan, Royalton and Paramount Hotels.

Marks keen eye, natural sense of ascetics and hard work ethic served him well. Mark with business partner Ron Faia created a Premier NYC window treatment company in the mid nineties, which they sold at the height of its success.

Both partners continued developing real estate, incorporating energy efficiency and alternative energy systems into their new projects. For Mark, being a founding partner of Voltaic Solaire is as much about creating a brighter future through education and action as it is about creating alternative energy solutions.
